Inverted Vee Wire Antennas
The versatile inverted vee antenna is a very popular antenna used by the amateur radio community. The reason for the popularity of the inverted vee is the ease of installation. All one needs is a suitable support such as a tree or pole and you can be up and running in little time.
The inverted vee is essentially a dipole antenna with the mounting made in such a way that the center of the antenna is mounted at the highest point while the two ends of the dipole are mounted in such a way as to form a V that is upside down hence the name inverted vee.
The inverted vee is used as single band antennas as well as multi-band antennas (such as the G5RV antenna). A good many of the hams will build an inverted vee antenna for the 80 meter band and then use an antenna tuner to run the same antenna on other bands.
